I'd spend it on getting things you really can't get for free. The only thing that comes to my mind now are locations, props, make up, food, clothes, oil for your cars. And the best camera as possible with decent lightning.

And I'd try to find some sponsors. I know a few persons who got like 20.000 euros together for a SHORT that involved cars and god knows whatnot, all from different companies, city council, whatever. (They fucked up with some kind of accident though). I know someone know who has two something sponsors with equipment -- steadycam, lights, good cameras etc. I dont know how he got the sponsors, but I keep hearing things like this and it seems many companies are willing enough to lend out a helping hand to beginning filmmakers.

And I'd get pretty people that can act well in my film. Show a tit or two.

And I wouldn't shoot horror.

Well there is a difference between being able to get something for free, and actualy wanting what you get. My point is that while you can get actors and crew for free - Not all cast and crew are equal, and it may actually make sense to pay for some of it.

For instance if your doing a zombie film, and you have ?10,000 - some of that may be well spent of a professional makeup artist.
